Learn about the safety features that are available

We know how important it is to feel safe in every lease, and because of this we have more than 20 safety features available in the Uber app in Jamaica. Learn more about some of them:

Follow My Lease

You can share your lease status and location on the map with friends and family, all right from the app, so someone you trust always knows where you are. You can customize your contacts and choose up to 5 persons.

Contact your lessor partner

With the Uber app you can contact your lessor partner via phone call or message. This way you can coordinate a safety meet up point without revealing personal information like your phone number.

Background and document check

All lessor partners must undergo a multi-step safety screen, including being checked for driving violations, impaired driving, violent crime, and other checks. In addition, Uber rescreens lessor partners every year and uses technology to look for issues in between.

Check the vehicle and the lessor partner's identity

The Uber app will always show the name and picture of your lessor partner. Before entering the vehicle, check that these two elements match with the person that arrived to pick you up. Also, check that the car make and model are correct and that the license plate is the same that the Uber app indicates.

GPS Tracking

All leases are tracked from start to finish, so there's a record of your lease if something happens.

PIN verification

If you activate this feature, you will receive a 4-digit code randomly generated that you will provide to the lessor partner. This helps you make sure you're getting into the right vehicle with the right lessor partner.
