The mix. The mix is how I think of Vanity Fair in all its iterations—great stories, gorgeous photography. That's how I first knew it as a reader, that's how I understood it as an assistant, and that's how I envision it as its editor.
Iterations of the magazine of course include our Oscar party. This year, my first as host, I wanted to convene a room where the figures running the film industry can take over the banquettes, but also bump into (sometimes literally) the people shaping it from outside—the tech leaders who may forever change Hollywood, the politicians who convene hearings on studio takeovers, and the business minds who hold the purse strings.
Right along with the mix is the idea that Vanity Fair is an invitation to the party. Flip open the magazine and the people shaping our world are there: in the photographs, sitting for interviews, opening up in revealing ways. And that was last night—the figures who you read about, in person, mingling with those who just stood onstage clutching Oscar statuettes.
Missed the party? We've got you covered. Ahead, catch all the big red-carpet arrivals and enthralling interviews by our livestream cohosts Quenlin Blackwell, Jake Shane, and Brittany Broski.
